Get to know camping at Great Pemberton Camp Out

Want to have a go at camping but not sure how to start or where to go?  Then head down Pemberton way for an introduction to camping in Warren National Park.

Pemberton Discovery Tours/ WA Wilderness, the Department of Parks and Wildlife and Nature Play WA are giving people the chance to have a go at camping in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The Great Pemberton Camp Out will provide the opportunity to camp among the karri trees in Warren National Park.  There will be friendly faces there to help get you started and answer questions, and like-minded beginner campers.

Parks and Wildlife Donnelly District senior ranger Jeff Kimpton said the Great Pemberton Camp Out would help people reconnect with the natural environment.

“The Pemberton area is rich in natural attractions.  You can explore the beautiful surrounds of Warren National Park, go bushwalking, swimming and fishing, or simply sit and take in the grandeur of the forest,” he said.

“We know that spending time in nature is wonderful for children, and the Great Pemberton Camp Out will give the kids a chance to get grubby and create their own games in the bush.

“In addition, there will be a range of activities on offer through Pemberton Discovery Tours/ WA Wilderness and the Unearthed Pemberton Festival, which will be on at that time.”

Toni Dearle from Pemberton Discovery Tours/ WA Wilderness said people shouldn’t let a lack of camping equipment put them off.

“We have roomy tents, comfortable stretchers and a range of camping equipment available for hire, so this is a great opportunity for people to have gentle camping experience without the cost of buying their own gear,” he said.
