The Management Plan for the Commercial Harvest of Kangaroos in Western Australia 2014–2018 provides for the commercial harvest of red and western grey kangaroos in accordance with the principles of ecologically sustainable development. It has been declared as an Approved wildlife trade management plan by the Commonwealth Minister for Environment and applies from 1 April 2014 until 31 December 2018.

  • The management plan relates only to the commercial harvest of red (Macropus rufus) and western grey (M. fuliginosus) kangaroos in Western Australia.
  • There is no current management plan that allows commercial harvesting of the euro (M. robustus). However, in certain circumstances and subject to certain restrictions, euros may be culled for non-commercial purposes on farmland or leasehold land used for grazing when they are causing damage to primary production (see the Open Season Notice for euros below).
