Stinger Alert For Lower Swan Estuary

Jelly fish
Jelly fish

Unusually high numbers of the stinging jellyfish Carybdea xaymacana have been seen in the lower Swan Estuary. This small, clear white jellyfish commonly found on local Perth beaches may cause a nasty sting. If recreating in the lower estuary, particularly around Freshwater Bay, it is recommended to take precautions to avoid contact with these stingers. Advice on treatment should be sought from the Department of Health on (08) 9388 4999.
