The Wunggurr rangers are involved in
management of their lands in cooperation
with the Department of Parks and Wildlife

The Department of Parks and Wildlife is strongly committed to involving Aboriginal people in managing land and sea country through joint management arrangements, as well as in making decisions and being involved in the planning and implementation of land management activities in parks and other conservation reserves.

The Conservation and Land Management (CALM) Act has been amended to:

The department jointly manages conservation reserves in and around Kununurra, Broome and Derby with the Yawoorroong Miriuwung Gajerrong Yirrgeb Noong Dawang Aboriginal Corporation, Yawuru native title holders and the Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation respectively.
