Public encouraged to stay safe at Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park in the State’s south-west

The Department of Parks and Wildlife is advising visitors to refrain from rock fishing in Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park for their own personal safety as oceans conditions were hazardous due to a huge swell today.

Parks and Wildlife Ranger Peter Simmonds said the park was extremely popular over Easter with thousands visiting to bushwalk, picnic, swim, surf and enjoy the beach.

“It is one of the park’s busiest times and we encourage people to be mindful of their own safety, especially today when the ocean swell is quite large,” he said.

“We have already had a few people who have had to be rescued after being washed off rocks today.”

Everyone visiting Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park during Easter is encouraged to enjoy a safe holiday with family and friends.
