Stop the kids from getting bored this October by heading for the hills to discover the exciting bush activities on offer at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre in Mundaring.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife’s (DPaW) Nearer to Nature program has a variety of engaging and interactive education sessions aimed at children from four to 14 years of age.

DPaW program coordinator Jill Francis said the bush craft Snugglegum and cuddlenut session on Thursday 10 October combined crafting with nature for four to seven year olds.

“Little ones will be taken on a journey of discovery with Australian bush craft storytelling, a bush walk and making their very own gumnut baby and seed bag to take home.”

If your child fancies being the boss of one of WA’s national parks, join the Ramble with a ranger challenge for seven to 12-year-olds on Wednesday 2 October to see exactly what they do every day.

“Learning to use a two-way radio, reading a map and navigating with a compass are some of the fun tasks for budding young rangers, with an animal encounter to round off this great experience,” Ms Francis said.

Spend a night under the stars at the Around the campfire session on Sunday 6 October when kids six years and over along with their families can meet the centre’s kangaroo family at dusk.

“Families can bring their own supper to cook on the barbie before sitting back to relax and enjoy a sing-a-long in the time-honoured camping tradition.”

Book now for all activities at Perth Hills Discovery Centre, as sessions fill up fast.
