Diesel slick near Barrack Street Jetty

The Department of Parks and Wildlife is investigating a diesel slick in the vicinity of Barrack Street Jetty on the Swan River.

Parks and Wildlife Riverpark Manager Roland Mau said the source of the 500-metre slick was unknown.

“We are working with the Department of Environment Regulation and the Department of Transport to determine the cause of the slick and mitigate its effects,” he said.

“We have deployed absorption booms to contain the spill and recover as much diesel as we can.”

The Department of Parks and Wildlife is the combat agency on behalf of the Department of Transport for low level oil spills in the Swan and Canning Riverpark.
